Over the past few years, the coffee scene has exploded in Belgrade, bringing trendy cafés, small roasteries and coffee shops to the city. You can’t go more than two strides down a street without passing one. But where are the best new places to go for not just a great cup of coffee but a great space too? Here, we take a look at the city’s youngest and most happening coffee havens.

Kafe Šupa

That name (engl. shack) is a reference to the ideal work environment and the relaxed atmosphere. And indeed, Šupa is that kind of hang-out space which makes you feel at home. Located right next to the busy Zeleni Venac Market and the old school erotic shops, this place nevertheless feels like a secret discovery. It’s covered with green plants, books and vintage details. Šupa’s menu has a wide variety: from cocktails and rakia to vegan coffee and hot chocolate options. If your (Mon)day is lacking a certain sparkle, their glitter cappuccinos could be just what you need. Btw, coffee always comes with home made turkish delight. The crowd at Kafe Šupa is a wonderfully diverse mix of all persuasions, which makes it an open-minded place . P.S.: It’s also a nice evening location with an interesting weekend program.

Kafograf

Kafograf, a roastery and a coffee shop run by a Belgrader couple, changed its location to the much more lively Despota Stefana Boulevard. This place is Dorćol’s new neighbourhood darling and beats definitely everything what’s around. The unique location between the closed Bled restaurant, one of Belgrade’s oldest taverns and the Botanical garden, gives the place a special touch. Kafograf provides a very homey atmosphere with friendly baristas and a sunshine-filled service, thanks to their shop like windows. It is a small but vibrant place offering a high quality coffee and tea selection from all over the world. The authentic sky wall makes it the prettiest unpretentious café in the hood. All in all, an intimate little spot for a cozy cup of coffee with a living room flair, vintage crystal glasses and an interesting mix of people.
